Backmask

Task: Design and build a self-sustaining band website with integrated music sales engine.

Backmask is an independent metal band with a do-it-yourself ethic. Having released their debut album Dark Fiber in late 2006, they needed a website that would market and sell their music without any middlemen.

Since the launch in December 2006, Backmask.com has reliably sold both download and CD versions of the critically acclaimed Dark Fiber album. In addition, the site has served as the central hub for fans, as a perfect compliment to the band’s MySpace page (which I designed in tandem.)

Future plans for the site include the removal of iframes, strict XHTML compliance, and an integrated CMS.
